Dave Hammer is publisher of the IntermountainHoops.com website. Dave also runs a college scouting service named Intermountain Hoops Scouting Service which is subscribed to by colleges all over the nation. He is the Utah state contact for selection to the Boys and Girls McDonald's All American High School Game. He is a regional correspondent for the HoopScooponline.com. He has earned a reputation as a tough, fair evaluator of college basketball potential. He is also the founder of the Salt Lake Metro basketball organization. The following is a bio of his basketball coaching and recruiting experience.
Dave Hammer basketball bio:
1986 - 1989: Volunteer assistant coach at University of Utah under
coach Lynn Archibald. Division 1 record while at Utah 72-51 a .585 winning
percentage. Won a WAC co-championship the first year and
appeared in the NIT tournament the following two years.

Biggest highlight: Playing North Carolina in the NCAA tournament
that was held at Weber State. The opposing coach was Dean Smith and Utah
vs. North Carolina was the national game of the night on NBC TV. North
Carolina's Brad Daugherty was the no. 1 pick in the NBA draft.
Other highlights: Beating Lute Olson and Arizona twice (2-0) and
Rick Pitino while at Providence. Defeating BYU at BYU before 22,000
screaming fans that hate us. Defeating BYU at home when BYU was ranked 5th
in the nation.
1992 - 2000: Assistant coach at Salt Lake Community College under
coach Norm Parrish. Record of 184-101 a .646 winning percentage. Salt Lake
Community College won the league championship twice and the league
tournament once. Point guards coached include Weber State and Indiana
Pacers Eddie Gill, Utah's Travis Spivey and Weber State's Jermaine Boyette
among others.
Biggest Highlight: winning league tournament and going to National
NJCAA (junior college) tournament in Hutchinson, KS. Salt Lake
Community College ended up ranked 5th in the nation that year.
Other highlights: Recruiting and signing many of the top Utah high
school players to play for Salt Lake Community College. Developing contacts with high school and college coaches.
Overall college career: More than 250 wins and more than 150
college players coached and recruited. Coached in NCAA, NIT and NJCAA
tournaments.
1992 - present: Head coach and founder of Salt Lake Metro basketball
organization. Formed 17 & under team in 1995. 143 players from Salt
Lake Metro have gone on to play college basketball, 62 at the d-1 level.
Biggest highlight: Helping over 400 boys to develop their game,
realize their potential, help them with their recruiting , emphasize the
importance of academic performance and developing their leadership
ability.
Other highlights: Winning Spiece Run N Slam 17 & under
tournament championship at Butler University (where the movie, Hoosiers was filmed).
Winning BCI tournament against Richard Jefferson. Same team won 2 national
tournaments the ONLY team from Utah to ever accomplish this. First Utah
team to attend Spiece RunNSlam, first Utah team to attend Kingwood Classic, first
Utah team to attend Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. Inducted into
Spiece Wall of Fame. Winning 8 Utah
State AAU boys championships (12 for organization).

Biggest highlight: Helping more than 100 girls in the last three years to develop their game, realize their potential, help them with their recruiting, emphasize the importance of academic performance and developing their leadership ability.
Other highlights:
Winning two tournaments in our first year of competition compiling an
overall record of 29-11 while playing some of the west coast's best
players and teams Developing an outstanding off-season skill development
program for our players. Integrating the Utah Avalanche club
basketball program into ours to maintain a tradition of excellence.
